WITCHUNT explores two parallel but intertwined stories: that of a kiss from a (now former) Spanish Football Association president to a female player during the 2023 Women's World Cup, and that of a group of drama school students exposing multiple cases of sexual harassment and predatory behaviour by their teachers, sparking the ‘Jo També’, Catalonia's own iteration of the ‘Me Too’ movement.

About

Mad, Who? is an emerging multicultural theatre company that creates multilingual captioned shows exploring human rights issues through a feminist lens. The company was founded in 2022 by Catalan multidisciplinary artist Marina Cusí in 2022 with the support of the University of Essex’s Innovation Centre and start-ups team.

The company was an OFFIES Awards 2024 finalist on their Best Online Production Category for the livestream of ‘The ‘’S’’ Is Silent’ at The Space Theatre, and an OffFest Award finalist at the OFFIES 2025 for the 'Sub Titles Over' run at The Space Theatre within the Voila! Festival in London.

Mad, Who? fuses the arts with advocacy and social revolution by engaging with local and international audiences, approaching their artistic practice through collaboration, always engaging local artists and audiences in their work and workshops.

The company premiered its first show, ‘The ‘’S’’ Is Silent’ in April 2023 at The Pleasance Theatre in London after winning the FesTeLoFF 2022 Audience Award for said production at FesTeLõn’s 10th festival edition.
In their first year as a company, Mad, Who? performed their shows at the Bush Theatre, the Pleasance Theatre (London), The Space in Canary Wharf, The Courtyard Theatre, and the Lakeside Theatre in Essex.

The company premiered their second production, ‘WITCHUNT’ at the ‘A Pinch of VAULT’ festival in February 2024.

In March 2024 our Artistic Director, Marina Cusí, was awarded the ‘Captain Amazing Trainee Bursary’, through which she developed our latest production, ‘Sub Titles Over’.

After premiering the show at the Colchester Fringe 2024, the play toured around London (Voila! Festival at The Space Theatre) and Cambridge (Town & Gown), and has just been announced as part of the Festival of Spanish Theatre in London 2025 programme.

‘Sub Titles Over’ was one of the finalist shows at the OFFIES 2025 for the OffFest Award.
